Capistrano Unified Council PTSA Contributions to CUSD - 2009-2010
Capistrano Unified Council PTSA makes significant contributions every year
to the students of CUSD. This year alone, PTA units have budgeted to raise a
total of $2.5 million to spend on the children in our school district. Some
of the items that PTA will pay for in the 2009/2010 school year include:
- $100,000 for library support
- $140,000 for Assemblies
- $110,000 for Technology
- $200,000 for Art programs
- $250,000 for Field Trips
- $200,000 for Music programs
- $220,000 for Classroom Support
- $700,000 for Misc. Programs
In addition to raising money to fund these programs for our students, PTA
members volunteer over 580,000 hours in our classrooms and schools each
year. If you use the California minimum wage rate of $8 per hour, that
equates to a labor cost savings of
over $4.6 million to CUSD.
Over the last four years, CUCPTSA Legislative Team’s advocacy efforts have
helped bring in approximately $3.1 billion statewide for education.
That translates to almost $21 million additional dollars for CUSD, or an
extra $404 per student, and averages more than $5 million per year.
When you add up the money CUCPTSA units expect to raise this year, the
dollar value of the volunteer hours and the $5 million that our Legislative
Team’s advocacy efforts save in education cuts from Sacramento each year,
that means that CUCPTSA, its units, and members donate approximately
$12 million annually to our district.
